Throughout the record, Queen Bey covers Dolly Parton and The Beatles and interpolates Patsy Cline, demonstrating the importance of copyright clearances spearheaded by Mannis-Gardner and DMG Clearances. “That record is important,” she says. “We’ll be feeling its effects for a long time.” Mannis-Gardner will also flex those clearance skills at AYO Music Group — which she recently launched with Pär Almqvist — where she can fix the registrations of artists and rights holders and “get them paid.”
