As a part of Black Music Month, Tony Alexander wrote an op-ed published in Commercial Appeal highlighting how hiring practices make teams diverse and should be the starting point for any company looking to increase diversity at their company.

Black Music Month has a very special place in my heart. Last month, and every June, this dedicated time allows us the space to pause, reflect, and celebrate the many incredible Black artists and creatives who have left their mark on our industry and who are continuing to shape the future of music. However, we don’t always celebrate the executives that helped to shepherd these creatives around the myriad of obstacles to success in the music industry.
As we celebrated last month, I took a moment to reflect on an incredible milestone for our team. Made in Memphis Entertainment (MIME) was proud to be named the inaugural winner of the Agent of Change Award at the Music Business Association’s first annual Bizzy Awards at the Music Biz 2022 conference. This award specifically honors a company that exemplifies a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in their hiring practices, executive development, and promotion structure.
