Spanish music industry trade, Industria Musical covered the lawsuit from LyricFind against Musicxmatch for alleged anti-competitive practices in the lyric licensing market.

LyricFind has filed an antitrust lawsuit against song lyrics provider Musixmatch and its owner, private equity firm TPG Growth . The suit, filed March 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, alleges eight violations of federal antitrust law and five violations of state law.
The litigation centers on an agreement signed in March 2024 that grants Musixmatch exclusive rights to sublicense lyrics from Warner Chappell Music (WCM) and provide lyric data to third parties, even those that already have direct licensing agreements with WCM. According to LyricFind, this agreement represents an unprecedented threat to competition in the music industry.
