Irish Independent: Music and the robots: ‘AI is going to be a challenge in the same way the industrial revolution was a challenge’

Martin Clancy was quoted in Irish Independent discussing the challenges AI is going to pose for the Music industry.

Science fiction writers have for decades imagined a dystopian future in which machine intelligence could pass among us undetected.
In the case of music, that future has, for better or worse, come to pass. We’re living in the Blade Runner of Oasis reunions. You look from the real to the ersatz and back again, and it’s hard to say which is which.
“We’re already there,” says Martin Clancy, editor of the 2022 book Artificial Intelligence and The Music Ecosystem, research fellow at Trinity, founder and chair of the Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers’ global AI ethics arts committee, and an international expert on the subject as well as a former member of 1980s Dublin band In Tua Nua.
“The big question is now what do we do next?”
