The Association of Independent Music (A2IM) held their annual A2IM Indie Week in NYC last week from June 9-12.

On June 10th, Symphonic kicked things off with Jon Mizrachi moderating the panel “The Hidden Risks of Shortcuts: Navigating Sync Licensing in the Age of AI and Leased Beats” to explore the potential pitfalls of using modern production tools, from ownership disputes to legal barriers that could block valuable sync opportunities.

Later on June 10th, Symphonic‘s Janette Berrios spoke on the New York Music Month panel “Music as a Business: Real-World Tactics for a Modern Industry.” Hosted by Music Twindustry hosts Jason and Joel Jordan from earthprogram, this session featured insights from Janette Berrios (Symphonic), Allie Barbera (Fuga), Steve Weatherby (DSTRO7), and Nick Terzo (Stem), they discussed how to navigate the modern distribution landscape, select the right partners, boost presence on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube, brand-building, digital advertising, and campaign strategies that drive long-term growth.

Symphonic closed out the 10th at the Billboard Indie Power Players party where Jorge Brea and Randall Foster were on hand to celebrate their inclusion on the 2025 list.

On June 11th, LyricFind CEO Darryl Ballantyne started the day off speaking on the panel “Elevate Your Game: Video Content That Boosts Streams” to share tips on how artists can use their own content alongside new video-production tools to produce fresh, standout visuals for every release, even without video editing experience.

Later, Symphonic‘s Janette Berrios spoke on the panel “Inbox to Income: Monetizing Your Email List Like a Pro” to explore how to turn email subscribers into paying fans and long-term supporters to grow engagement and monetize a list without burning it out.

Closing out Indie Week on June 12th, DDEX Secretariat member Mark Isherwood moderated the panel “Follow the Money: Data, Content ID & UGC Monetization” exploring how enriched databases, advanced content identification, and tracking can close the gaps in revenue created by missing metadata, inaccurate content recognition, and platform attribution issues.
