The AIMP recently held its 2023-2024 Board of Directors elections, which resulted in the official creation of the Atlanta Chapter, new leadership teams taking charge at the Los Angeles and Nashville Chapters, the approval of two new amendments to the AIMP Bylaws, and multiple new Board members bringing fresh perspectives to Los Angeles, Nashville, and New York. Congratulations to the newly elected leadership and Board!
The results were announced at each Chapter’s holiday party, with Los Angeles, Nashville, and New York holding their events in November and December. During the parties, the Los Angeles Chapter also presented the Indie Publisher of the Year award to North Music Group and the Individual Award in Support of Songwriters and Publishers to Jay Cooper, while the New York Chapter presented the Indie Spirit Award to Deborah Mannis-Gardner. Atlanta will be kicking off the new year on January 17 at 7pm ET at the 4U Recording Atlanta studio.
Angry Mob Music


“Sign Of The Times” (stripped) has hit 10 million streams! This string cover of the Harry Styles original song was produced by Angry Mob’s award-winning composer Steve Horner and Sean Harrison, the Senior Director of Creative and Co-Founder of Angry Mob. The song was featured in Season 2 of Bridgerton during the pivotal wedding scene in episode 6.
Angry Mob teamed up with Demolition Music Publishing to host the “Sync in TV” panel that featured a conversation between Jennifer Wolczyk (VP of Artist Development and Creative Licensing, Whizbang), Whitney Plizer (Music Supervisor, Black and White Music) and Russel Ziecker (Global Head of Television Music, Lionsgate and STARZ) at this year’s Nashville Film Festival.
CCS Rights Management / Daytripper


CCS and Daytripper were featured in the latest Music Connection for their wins at this year’s SOCAN Awards! They went home with three wins, including the International Television Series Music Award for Paw Patrol, Most Streamed Production Award for Paw Patrol, and the Domestic Television Music Award for Animated Programming for Rusty Rivets.
Jodie Ferneyhough, Founder & President of CCS and Daytripper, was a featured panelist on the panel “Do The Rights Thing: Music Licensing” at this year’s 2022 FOCUS event in London! He was joined by Rupert Hollier of Redfive/Atlantic Screen Music, Jason Mirchandani of Beggars Group, and Andy Provan of PRS Music.
DDEX
From November 14-17, DDEX held their 40th Plenary meeting in Woodland Hills, CA. As part of their Plenary, they discussed the new updates to ERN 4.3, held their working group sessions,and held an open session for non-DDEX members to discuss their efforts in exploring the data flows of music in podcasts to attract more input from those who work in the podcast industry.
On December 5, DDEX announced the publishing of ERN 4.3 (a cumulative update from ERN 4.2 that adds more functionality and reduces complexity) with Universal Music Group and Spotify as early adopters, and announced the Catalogue Transfer Standard 1.0. The ERN 4.3 update includes various additional business benefits over earlier versions. These additional benefits include support for communication of data about immersive audio, data for short clips, more granular album visibility dates, a hook mechanism, and significantly enhanced handling of classical music.

Deborah Mannis-Gardner


Deborah Mannis-Gardner was selected as the 2022 recipient of the Indie Spirit Award at the New York AIMP holiday party! It was a swift and unanimous decision by the NY Chapter to award her for her work for the music community, and more specifically, her support of independent music publishers over the years.
Looking ahead, Deborah is the Music Supervisor for the upcoming movie Spinning Gold, which tracks the story of Neil Bogart and the rise of Casablanca Records. After showings at film festivals this year, it’s officially coming out on March 31, 2023, and you can see the just-released trailer here: https://youtu.be/U9o7g5upzEQ
Exactuals

On December 8th, Exactuals held a webinar with Music Biz titled, “How To Choose A Royalty Software That Scales As Quickly As Your Business.” During the webinar, Exactuals’ SVP of Revenue, Lindsay Conlin, discussed the importance and complexity of handling payments and royalties, especially with how many options exist.
On January 24th, Exactuals will be hosting a Rights Education “Coffee Break” with the Book Industry Study Group (BISG) titled “How to Make Your Indie Publishing House Look Like a Major.” In the webinar, they’ll discuss how to automate and digitize payments processes in book publishing, freeing up time and resources.
Made in Memphis Entertainment (MIME)

Viral track “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” by Hittkidd and GloRilla, which was recorded at MIME’s 4U Recording Memphis studio earlier this year, has not only racked up over 52 million YouTube plays to date but also recently received nominations for Best Rap Performance at the 2023 Grammy Awards and Song of the Year at the 2022 BET Hip-Hop Awards! Congrats to the entire team, and specifically 4U engineer Kyle Javello, on this huge moment!

OpenPlay

On December 13, OpenPlay held their last webinar of 2022, where they walked attendees through their latest feature – bulk search and editing of tracks! They also discussed the best tools that their users should be using going into 2023 and held an open mic to find out what their users wanted to know the most about!
Mondo.NYC



From October 11-14, Mondo.NYC was held at the Williamsburg Hotel in Brooklyn, NY, hosting hundreds of attendees at over 55 panels, 11 showcases, and four live-streamed concerts, where they heard from the most important and influential figures in the music industry. Highlights from the event included the panel tracks Future of Music Production and Creation, Music & Gaming, Guild of Music Supervisors, the RIAA, and the CLE program. Notable speakers included RIAA CEO Mitch Glazier, YouTube’s Waleed Diab and Carletta Higginson, Nari Matsuura (Citrin Cooperman), Barry Massarsky (Citrin Cooperman), Vickie Nauman (CrossBorderWorks), Henry Beecher Hicks III (National Museum of African American Music), Eric Hutcherson (Universal Music Group), Tiffany R. Warren (Sony Music Group), Dr. Maurice A. Stinnett (Warner Music Group), songwriters Victoria Shaw and Peter Cincotti, Peter Shapiro (Dayglo Presents), Golnar Khosrowshahi (Reservoir), and more. Mondo.NYC also announced next year’s conference will be taking place from October 17-20, 2023!
