The AIMP Los Angeles Chapter hosted their second Annual Spotlight Event on September 8th featuring an all-star lineup of studio creatives and top executives including Michelle Lewis (Executive Director, SONA), award-winning composer George S. Clinton, Evyen Klean (President, Neophonic / All Music Services for HBO and HBO Max), renowned film and TV composer Kris Bowers (Dear White People, Bridgerton, King Richard), and many others. The AIMP Nashville Chapter just announced their Songwriter Series Class of 2022! Brigetta, John Byron, Erin Kinsey, Meg McRee, Colton Venner, and Caroline Watkins were chosen for the prestigious honor and performed in a live songwriters’ round at The Listening Room Café on October 4th. The AIMP New York Chapter recently hosted two successful webinars, “Copyright 101: What Is A Copyright, And What Does It Mean For Music Publishers?” and “Sync 101: What Is A Sync License, and How Do I Negotiate and License It?” Stay tuned to the AIMP events page for more educational programming in the coming months!
Angry Mob Music


Angry Mob had three new signings in August! Henri Werner is a German electronic producer, NOPRISM is a British electronic pop band that has earned praise from Duran Duran’s Simon LeBon, and IOVA is an emerging Romanian artist and songwriter who creates electro-pop music.
Rune Westberg is mentioned in Rolling Stone’s premier of Ruby Velle’s new music video for her song ‘Straight Out the Mud’! In the article, Ruby discusses how instrumental Rune’s home studio and musical style was to create this song.
Additionally, Angry Mob has landed multiple sync placements in shows like Good Trouble, Love Island, and a promotional ad for the WNBA Tunnel Fashion.

CCS Rights Management / Daytripper



CCS/Daytripper Founder and President Jodie Ferneyhough represented CCS & Daytripper at the 2022 Canadian Country Music Awards this year! He had the opportunity to present songwriter plaques and was awarded the Music Humanitarian Award for his work with Unison, a non-profit that provides counseling and emergency relief services to the Canadian Music Community.
Daytripper had the pleasure of attending and hosting their first-ever showcase at the 2022 Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, Germany! Attendees were able to see performances from U.S. artist Daniel Blake, followed by Canadian artists Nuela Charles and Featurette, Swedish rock band Tribe Friday, and ending the showcase with Canada-based artist POESY.
Soundstripe


Soundstripe reached two major milestones this summer!
In July, Soundstripe announced the official launch of its mobile app, giving creators the ability to discover, save, stream, and download unlimited music from the company’s extensive catalog while on the go. In August, Soundstripe announced its Series B funding, having received $9M to expand music solutions for creators and brands. Soundstripe will use the funding to invest in new B2B products and services to boost its rapidly expanding Enterprise business, as well as new tools to serve Soundstripe’s core business, which has amassed tens of thousands of customers worldwide. rightsholder.io has been heads down and busy the past few months! This past weekend, they had the opportunity to take a break and head to California for the 8th Annual ‘State of Music in Media’ Guild of Music Supervisors Conference that took place at the Los Angeles Film School. This trip was a great opportunity to hear more about the needs of the media and how they can apply them to their tools.
DDEX

DDEX just released their newest whitepaper titled “Music in Podcasts,” outlining the use of music in podcasts as well as potential data flows for different types of podcasts, communication of said data, reporting of usage, and more.
The whitepaper is the result of over a year of work by DDEX, which included events at the 2021 Podcast Movement conference, the 2022 London Podcast Show, and open meetings starting in September 2021 to invite feedback from podcast creators, producers, and distributors on how proposed processes and data requirements as documented by DDEX regarding the usage and reporting of music in podcasts would be able to be integrated in their processes and work flows.

NY Tech Alliance


The NY Tech Alliance held their first in-person meetup in more than two years on September 12th! Presented in partnership with the Business Incubator Association of NY State (BIANYS), the Meetup was a jam-packed and full event hosted by Doug Binette, Acting Director of the NY Tech Alliance, and Marc Alessi, Executive Director, BIANYS, featuring eight demos from companies in aerospace, fintech, AI, manufacturing, med-tech, employment, and more!

Deborah Mannis-Gardner



Deborah has been asked to share her knowledge and expertise on Web3 and the Metaverse at several events the past few months! She was a panelist for a SOCAN panel on licensing within the metaverse, hosted a round table brunch with the Web3 Music Rights Group in LA on licensing, and was a part of the “Web3, VR, and the Metaverse: Rights and Licensing for Immersive Applications” panel at this year’s RightsTech Summit.
Deborah also wrote an op-ed that was published in Music Business Worldwide on “Music In The Metaverse: Redefining Music Rights In The Web3 World,” where she discusses how we need to introduce new terms in order to ensure fair licensing in the Web3 world. In addition to her op-ed, Deborah was a guest on Music Is My Business – a podcast where producers, artists, and songwriters can learn strategies to help monetize their careers.

OpenPlay

OpenPlay has recently announced some newly added features to their already vast toolset. They added support for Multiple Masters, allowing users to upload different audio files with the same ISRC code for different DSPs, bit rates for HD audio, radio edits, and more. They’ve also added new EPK tools and Stems support so users can associate and store stem files directly with the final masters, allowing for greater flexibility in marketing, campaigns, synch, remixes, and more.

Verifi Media
Verifi Media’s Chloe Johnson spoke at Primavera Sound on a panel discussing the exchange of metadata between industry partners. It also explored ways to improve it and increase revenues for those players, especially authors and publishers.

On June 13, Ken Umezaki spoke at Canadian Music Week on a panel titled “How Can (Good) Data Improve Your Business” to discuss data friction in the digital eco-system.
On September 28th, Verifi Media presented a series of sessions at Future Music Forum, beginning with a basic introduction to the company and metadata efficiencies. This was followed by a workshop on the Verifi Rights Data Alliance featuring Ken Umezaki of Verifi, Eric Jordi of Unison, and Diederik d´Engelbronner of FUGA. The sessions wrapped with the panel “Maximizing Catalogue Through Metadata” featuring Verifi’s Allen Bargfrede as moderator along with panelists d´Engelbronner, Irene Bauza of Unison, and Goncal Calvo of BMAT.

Following the success of their #1 charting “The Metallica Podcast: Volume 1 — The Black Album” and the “Verve Presents: Monk Goes to School” podcast, PopCult has announced its partnership with Disney Music Group to produce the new “Disney Hits Podcast,” featuring the most popular songs from their films. The podcast is designed to bring listeners to the Disney Hits playlists on streaming services.The first season is streaming now, featuring songs from Frozen, Moana, Coco, The Lion King, Aladdin, Encanto, Tangled, and more. Meet Pumpkin


Pumpkin is Zach’s new kitten and member of the Jaybird family. He’s around 8 weeks old and is a little foundling from the streets! Zach and his partner found him at 5 weeks old and immediately took him in. Within a couple weeks, he has already become a feisty and lively little dude who’s getting bigger and stronger every day and is officially 2 pounds!
Favorite album or song: Anything by John Mayer or Rex Orange County
Favorite Videos: eSports videos/music videos
Hobbies: Eating salmon, screaming for food if it’s a minute past food time, hunting his shadow, and squeezing himself into small spaces.
