Jaybird Communications Internship
Through December 2024

Jaybird Communications LLC is looking for PR interns/ assistants for the Fall 2024 semester (through December 2024). Tasks will include updating calendars, reports, media research, social media, basic graphic design, and event support. Depending on the candidate’s skills, additional tasks can also include writing press materials and pitching. The ideal candidate has some public relations or editorial experience, with a strong interest in the business side of the music industry. The position will be remote, but the candidate must be based in or able to travel to either the Atlanta or Miami metro areas. This is a part-time role of 10-20 hours per week, at a rate of $18-$24 per hour, depending on experience.

Key Skills & Requirements:

– Excellent planning and multi-tasking skills to handle several projects and shifting priorities. Must be able to meet deadlines and plan ahead to ensure work is completed on time. Self-motivation a must!

– Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

– Outstanding English writing and research skills.

– Deep interest in the business side of the music industry – follow the news daily and keep up-to-date on current hot topics.

– Must demonstrate proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Zoom.

– Able to participate in at least two team calls a week, which are usually held at 11am ET/ 10am CT/ 8am PT. Other working hours are flexible, but the schedule does need to have a reasonable overlap with ET workday (10am-6pm) and be consistent week-to-week.

– Able to attend and work either a multi-day event in Atlanta (week of September 23) or a one-day event in Miami (November 2).

– Some work experience desirable; college degree or current enrollment in an accredited program is preferred but not required for strong candidates with demonstrated skills.

++ If You Had Experience In:

– Using software such as: Canva, Cision, Dropbox, Google Drive, Hive, iContact, Mailchimp, Slack, WordPress, and/or YouTube Studio.

– Planning and managing events of varying sizes.

– Writing press releases and pitches.

– Managing multiple social media accounts on multiple platforms.

A Day in the Life:
In a typical day, you will assist with such tasks as:

– Researching and building media lists
– Maintaining updated list of industry events and speaking opportunities
– Maintaining internal client calendars and timelines
– Taking notes during client calls
– Preparing agendas for calls
– Writing pitches for events and news releases
– Drafting a variety of written materials
– Basic graphic design
– Handling media RSVPs for events
– On-site event support
– Handling social media for multiple clients
