Music Ally published an op-ed from Deborah Mannis-Gardner, Pär Almqvist and Stacey Haber from AYO Music Group discussing AI and copyright.
It appears we are at a crossroads in what has become a battle between AI and copyright.

The UK government is currently in the midst of a consultation on whether to introduce an exception to the copyright law for text and data mining, essentially allowing copyright-protected material to be used without permission to train AI models unless the rightsholder explicitly opts out.
This approach dilutes creator copyright protection, threatens to severely devalue music copyright, and has strong potential to negatively impact both music creators and rightsholders on a scale that has never been seen before – ultimately to the detriment of culture itself.
