May 17, 2024 (Nashville, TN) – The Music Biz 2024 conference wrapped on Thursday, May 16 with its fourth day of programming. Day Four featured the tracks Past, Publish, Future: Music Publishing’s Evolution in 2024 & Beyond; Backstage 2.0: Analyzing Live Music’s Future; Disrupting The Norm: Tips For Your Artist Marketing Strategies; and Changing The Game: Music & Gaming’s Unique Synergies. Standout sessions of the day included a keynote conversation with John Josephson, CEO, SESAC Music Group, and the Women in the Room: Music Biz Leadership Roundtables.

Music Biz will return May 12-15, 2025 at the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel.

In this keynote conversation with Robert Levine of Billboard, SESAC Music Group CEO John Josephson spoke on licensing, rights management, and future trends in the publishing space.

In the “Are We Supporting Our Most Important Resource?” panel, presented in conjunction with the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM), executives Sandye Taylor of BMI, Gretchen Boster of Downtown Music Holdings, Natoya Brown of Universal Music Group, and Ryan Butler of The Recording Academy spoke on the rise of post-pandemic DEI initiatives and why companies must continue to foster well-being in the workplace by nurturing the needs of their people. 

Women In The Room: Music Biz Leadership Roundtables

During these roundtable discussions, female executives from Symphonic Distribution, Vevo, Universal Music Group, Spotify, and many more shared their stories on various topics to help foster inclusive environments for women and other marginalized groups within the music industry. 

Syncing Soundscapes: Exploring Music’s Role in Gaming Evolution

Gaming has become an increasingly popular outlet for music integration in recent years. During the “Syncing Soundscapes: Exploring Music’s Role in Gaming Evolution” panel, Tom Riley of Songtradr, Bradley Patter of Kobalt Music, Alex Malcolm of Warner Music Group, and Melissa Rassas Bortnick of Epic Games discussed new ways music is integrated and licensed across various game formats, as well as how the usage of music is impacting the gaming industry.
