Canadian lyrics platform LyricFind has filed a lawsuit in the District Court of California against Musixmatch, an Italian company that offers the same service, and its shareholder TPG Growth. The subject of the lawsuit is an agreement signed by the company led by Max Ciociola with Warner Music’s publishing division, Warner Chappell, in March 2024, which grants MusixMatch exclusive rights to the lyrics of the works in its catalog, and to sublicense them also to third parties already holding existing licensing agreements with Warner Chappell.
