Music Ally: Symphonic partners with ArtyShield to offer AI protection platform MusicShield

Music Ally covered Symphonic’s recent announcement with Artyshield.

Distributer Symphonic have partnered with ArtyShield, an AI platform that helps rightsholders protect their work from unauthorised AI use. Symphonic clients can now access some of ArtyShield’s tools for free, including access to MusicShield, a tool that is designed to “help protect music before it is released.”

How does that work? It’s the “poison pill” approach: MusicShield tweaks the audio file in ways that humans can’t hear, but alters how AI understands the track, meaning that AI systems find it hard to correctly interpret the features of a song, making it less useful for AI model training. ArtyShield is also preparing to launch ArtyShield Certify, a proof-of-human platform that will connect into the metadata layer and with potential future applications in licensing, legal, and platform verification.
